2 1/2 week old always wants to eat!?

Is this normal? He normally wants to eat about every 2 hours. Right now it is every hourly. Sometimes it has only been 30mins since he nursed and he his already trying to eat his hands! I read they have a growth spurt at 3 weeks but he eats this way all day and night! Maybe he sleeps a little longer in the day than at night. I feel like I'm overfeeding him if I nurse him around the clock but he cries & tries to eat his hands, blanket whatever sooo often. Should I introduce a pacifier this early? Did you experience this? He is an inch longer and almost a pound heavier than at birth and is fed.
