Paradox question, only smart people answer plz.?

If i look up and see a star at night there is a chance that it does not exist anymore and i am just seeing the light that it gave off before a supernova. so my question is, if traveling this fast was possible couldn't i travel faster than light to see the star exploding. although its been gone for 100k years?
