What is 0....no solving required but still...HELP!?

last year my teacher told me 0 is NOT an integer. this year my teacher told me that 0 is a whole number. but for a number to be a whole number it has to be an integer first. so wtf???? is 0 an integer? or is it not? eeppp sry for typos keyboard a bit messed up
